Battle of the Men’s Jeans: Levi’s vs. The Perfect Jean vs. Mugsy

Finding the perfect pair of jeans feels like hunting for buried treasure. Most jeans are stiff, restrictive, and make my legs feel like they’re all tied up. On the other hand, a lot of comfortable options look like jeggings (and I’m leaving those behind in 2010). Even my most expensive jeans have lost their shape after a few wears!

So, I’ve made it my mission to find jeans that are comfortable, durable, and don’t break the bank—when you look good, you feel good, right?

I did some digging and tried out three popular brands–The Perfect Jean (or TPJ), Levi’s, and Mugsy. After countless wear tests, washes, and even workouts, I think I might have actually found the brand…

If you’re looking for ultra-comfortable jeans that you can chop wood, Netflix and chill, dance, do yoga, and still look damn fine in…The Perfect Jean

Remember the days when you wore uncomfortable clothes because you thought “my nuts are crushed, but damn, I look good”? Now, I want jeans that look good and feel good, and The Perfect Jean knocks it out of the park.

Their jeans are made from stretchy, special denim fabric that’s so much softer and more comfortable than traditional jeans. You move freely the first day you put them on, unlike Levi’s that need to be broken in. I used to get weird looks wearing sweatpants at the airport, but when I wear TPJ, I get compliments while still feeling like I’m wearing sweatpants (just in case my airport crush and I make it out of my dreams).

Mugsy is made with stretchy fabric, too, but I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that TPJ is smooth like butter 🧈—they feel like jeans, but are as comfortable as sweatpants. I don’t need to rip them off immediately when I get home – they’re that soft and comfy.

If you’re looking for jeans that actually fit your body…The Perfect Jean

Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and so should your jeans! The Perfect Jean offers a jean for every guy: 6 different fits, waist sizes from 26-50, length sizes from 26-38, and two fabric options: OG Stretch and Premium 99% Cotton. Guys! This means NO TRIPS TO THE TAILOR! If you don’t get your perfect fit on your first try, just exchange them for free!

The Perfect Jean also has 18 different colors (they call them washes). My favorites are Bandit (Black) and Knight (Dark Blue), but if lighter washes are your style, they’ve got those too. My friends have never commented on my fits before…but when I started wearing TPJ, every one of my closest guys asked me what brand they were—not kidding!

While Levi’s has some decent variety, they didn’t have my size in my favorite wash, which was super disappointing. Personally, I felt like my Levi’s didn’t mold to my body type, and even their slimmest fit feels baggy. Mugsy, while pretty comfortable, only offers one fit—straight leg—and they don’t look like they were made for me, so to speak.

If you’re balling on a budget…The Perfect Jean and Levi’s tie

Let’s talk shmoney–I live in Los Angeles, and when a basic lunch costs you $20+, you’re not trying to spend an arm and a leg on jeans. A good pair of jeans will run you some coin, but if your pockets are tight or you just like value (who doesn’t), The Perfect Jean and Levi’s are the way to go.

Levi’s jeans run around $60-$80, while The Perfect Jean’s prices are between $79.99-$89.99. Mugsy comes in at the highest price point, starting at around $118 a pair. TPJ sweetens the deal with 15% off your first order (it’s a no-brainer in my book).

If you’re looking for jeans that last…The Perfect Jean

When it comes to quality, TPJ is the real deal. These jeans are made with some kind of magic that makes them age like fine wine (I hear they use some kind of special sewing machines and don’t skimp on hardware like other popular jeans 😉).

I’ve found that Levi’s and Mugsy jeans tend to fade, pill, and lose their shape over time. It sucks to spend so much money on jeans that don’t even last a few washes–that’s a dealbreaker in my book. I like that my TPJ Bandit and Knight jeans have been with me through all kinds of adventures (and washes) and they still look and feel just as good as when I first got them.

And the winner is…The Perfect Jean

It can’t be a coincidence that my perfect jeans are actually called The Perfect Jean, can it? Plus, there’s no risk in ordering since their shipping, returns, and exchanges are all FREE! Don’t just take my word for it, though. They have over 20,000 5-star reviews ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, so you can trust that these jeans live up to their name!
