Is This the Best Hoodie for the Jobsite? I Tried the BRUNT Shevlin to See if the Hype Is Real.

If I have to stand on my feet for 10+ hours straight, I better be comfortable. I’ve tried a few ‘workwear hoodies’ from popular, so-called workwear brands, but I’ve never been that impressed, so I usually stick to standard hoodies that I’ve held on to for years.

So when I first heard about BRUNT’s Shevlin hoodie ($59.99), I thought, “Yeah, okay… another hoodie that won’t last.”  But when a buddy of mine, someone whose opinion I trust, told me to give it a shot, I caved. I figured if it could handle a day in the workshop with me, it might be worth the hype.

The high-quality material surprised me

Let’s set the record straight: I wasn’t expecting to be wowed the first time I pulled on the Shevlin. I mean, how special can a hoodie be? Turns out, pretty special.

The first thing I noticed was the material. It’s solid. We’re talking thick, durable fabric. It’s got that perfect balance of being tough enough for the workshop but comfortable enough that you don’t mind wearing it all day. I could immediately tell this thing is built to last, and it’s still in almost perfect condition after long days of carving, cutting, and sanding. 

There are a range of sizes available (up to 4XL), and in my experience, the fit is spot on. It’s roomy enough to layer when I need to, but not so baggy that it gets in the way. This hoodie has five different styles with up to 6 different color options from olive green to black.

It’s comfortable, but it’s also functional

I was always the dude rolling my eyes at “tech features” in workwear. But I’ll admit, the Shevlin’s hidden tech pocket is genius. 

Normally, I leave my phone on a nearby surface (where it inevitably gets buried under a pile of wood scraps from my latest furniture project). With this hoodie, I can slip my phone into the tech pocket, and it’s secure. Even with my bulky case, it fits snugly, and I don’t have to worry about it shifting around or falling out while working.

And let’s talk about those hand pockets. Too many hoodies have pockets that are either too shallow, flimsy, or just awkward. But the Shevlin’s pockets are deep and sturdy, perfect for holding my protective gear, gloves, or even the odd screw. 

This thing is built for the real jobsite grind

This hoodie isn’t just comfortable—it’s tough. It’s got an industry-leading DWR coating, which basically means it’s water-repellent. And that coating isn’t just for show. I was sanding one of my woodworking projects outside last week when I got caught in the rain. Normally, I’d be soaked through and miserable in a regular hoodie, but with the Shevlin? The water beaded right off. I just wiped it down, and it was good to go.

But here’s what made me a believer: the wind protection. Look, no hoodie can replace a heavy coat when the temps drop to freezing, but the Shevlin holds its own. I wore it on a windy day, and the wind didn’t cut through the fabric like it does with most hoodies.

I’ll be real: I was skeptical at first. I’ve tried plenty of hoodies, and sure, I have some other hoodies I like. But BRUNT’s Shevlin Hoodie is the real deal, and I put it to the test. Whether it’s freezing cold, wet, or windy, this hoodie has kept me comfortable and dry – all while looking pretty darn handsome, if I might add.
