So your hair is thinning. Maybe you’ve spent a bit more time than you’d like to admit looking at photos of the thick, luscious locks from your youth. And maybe you don’t want to admit that you need a solution fast. But…yeah.

We’re not alone, because hair loss treatment brands like Keeps, Rogaine, and Roman are here to help out. Enter: the ultimate, can’t-miss, once-in-a-lifetime battle between these 3 players. More on this below:

And The 3 Mane Contenders Are…

I’ve seen Keeps in plenty of advertisements in NYC, but I’ve also heard from a buddy that it’s the real deal. Plus, it’s an entirely online system. Keeps offers the usual suspects such as Finasteride and Minoxidil, plus some non-prescription extras.

Of course I had to include Rogaine, a veteran in this game. Rogaine has been around for decades, and their main (mane?) focus has always been Minoxidil. It’s cool that they have women’s options, too.

Roman also offers both Finasteride and Minoxidil. They don’t limit themselves to hair loss–from sexual health to mental health and more, they cover a lot of ground.

Test #1:Variety

Keeps: With Keeps, you can build out an entire hair loss regimen. Start with Minoxidil drops or foam, Finasteride pills, or a topical Minoxidil & Finasteride combo. Keep it going with their thickening shampoo & conditioner, and finish up by styling with their thickening pomade.

Roman: Roman offers the topical drops and oral Minoxidil (no foam), and they also carry Finasteride pills. However, Keeps offers extras like shampoo & conditioner to support this hair loss treatment journey, which I really appreciate.

Rogaine: Rogaine may be the household name for hair loss treatment, but they only offer two Minoxidil products: hair drops or foam.

Winner: Keeps

Test #2: Expertise

Keeps: I was new to hair loss treatments, so I went straight to the physicians on the Keeps team. They saw me within 48 hours, and my virtual appointment was free. They answered all my questions and let me know that future annual consultations will only cost $5.

Roman: Roman also has doctors that are available for consultations, and can prescribe Finasteride & Minoxidil or oral Minoxidil. They also have an OTC Minoxidil option.

Rogaine: I know Rogaine has been around for awhile, but that doesn’t mean you immediately know what you’re doing. They don’t have docs available like Keeps or Roman do.

Winner: Keeps or Roman

Test #3: Efficacy

Keeps & Roman: All three brands use Minoxidil as their active ingredient, which is safe for topical application and has been shown to provide results long-term. However, Keeps and Roman take this one step further by also offering Finasteride for a receding hairline.

Rogaine: Minoxidil is meant to target hair loss at the crown of the head, not the front. If a receding hairline is your issue, you’ll want to turn to Finasteride, which is not carried by Rogaine.

Winner: it’s a three-way tie

Test #4: Cost

Keeps: Plain and simple, Keeps gives you the most bang for your buck. Keeps costs $33 for 3 months, plus doctor consultations and more. It’s an amazing deal and an obvious choice.

Rogaine: Rogaine costs $51.99 for a 3-month supply of topical solution. Again, they don’t offer Finasteride.

Roman: Roman costs $48 for 3 months, and this is just for their generic, non-prescription Minoxidil. Their prescription options cost more.

Winner: Keeps

FINAL VERDICT: It’s Keeps for me!

If you want simplicity and drugstore availability, Rogaine could be for you. If you want a brand that offers more options and a subscription model, Roman isn’t bad. But for me, it’s Keeps that’s the hands-down winner. They offer a full curation of hair products for retention and regrowth, doctor consultations, auto-delivery, and the clinical evidence that their product works!
